Energy efficiency. Intelligent buildings – Part 2
This material presents a research report carried out by Buildings Performance Institute Europe.
Its aim was to answer the question: Is Europe ready for the smart revolution? The study took into account factors such as: the energy performance of a building, the ability to keep it warm/cool,
a healthy living and working environment, the share of RES energy in total energy consumption, photovoltaic energy for the market, efficient heating and cooling, smart meter deployment, a dynamic energy market, household internet connection, demand response, the development of building energy storage and the identification of the electric vehicle market. The indicators adopted for assessing the individual characteristics made it possible to create a map of Europe showing smart-readiness on a five-stage scale from Slow-starters to Smart-ready.
