POLISH-GERMAN SERIES OF MEETINGS RELATED TO ENERGY TRANSFORMATION

On 23rd September 2021 in Spremberg the first of a series of Polish-German energy meetings dedicated to energy transformation of border regions such as Spree-Neisse-Bober took place. The meeting was attended by representatives of local authorities, industry, scientific institutions, as well as public benefit organizations such as the Polish Green Network.

During the meeting, the European Union development strategy "European Green Deal" was discussed, which aims to transform the EU into a climate neutral area. The strategy was presented in the context of European law, the fair transition in Polish coal regions was presented, and the issues of energy transition in Germany and its specific impact on Lausitz were discussed.

An important part of the meeting was a panel discussion entitled: Chances and obstacles on the way to climate neutrality in Poland and Germany - which solutions are applied by institutions in the border region?

The University of Zielona Góra was represented by the Prof. Marcin Mrugalski - Vice-Rector for Science and International Cooperation, Dr. Anna Staszczuk and Dr. Marta Gortych, while CEBra e.V. was represented by Dr. Iwona Napierała. During the break you could get acquainted with information materials on projects carried out by UZ, CEBra e.V, BTU and the City of Zielona Góra in the field of energy storage.
