Air-conditioning system with energy management

This paper presents a simple energy consumption management model for a split-type air-conditioning system. Air conditioners of this type are commonly used in homes and other buildings. These types of mainly rely on air–cooled compressor for heat rejection process. As air conditioners consume a lot of electricity, it is important to manage its consumption. The main objectives of the paper was to investigate and simulate an air-conditioning system with electricity management by adjusting the temperature set point inside the building. The research also includes factors related to the energy consumption of the air conditioner, such as the temperature inside the building, the energy consumption of the air conditioner, the temperature outside the building, the insulation of the building and the air flow, etc. These studies were analysed and then applied to air conditioners in a specific room to reduce energy consumption without affecting the comfort of the people in the building. The air conditioner model was carried out using MATLAB. The simulation results were compared with the results from the measuring instrument and found to be consistent.
